About Unite Gay Network
Unite Gay Network is a new platform for homosexual and bisexual men, offering a unique space to connect, share experiences, and access valuable resources. Members can explore an interactive map featuring gay bars, clubs, cruising areas, and relevant organizations, and join interest-based groups to build connections around shared passions. As a young and growing initiative, Unite Gay Network aims to expand its reach and features, creating a truly worldwide network that fosters connection, belonging, and empowerment.
About the Role
As a Network Locations Coordinator for Unite Gay Network, you will play a key role in keeping our location finder, known as the "Map," accurate and up-to-date. Your responsibilities will include identifying, researching, and updating relevant locations, such as bars, clubs, cruising areas, and LGBTQ+ organizations that matter most to the gay community. By ensuring our map remains comprehensive and current, you’ll help our members navigate and connect with safe, inclusive spaces worldwide. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, passionate about community building, and excited to contribute to a platform that fosters connection and belonging. Responsibilities
- Research and update the Unite Gay Network map with relevant locations for gay and bisexual men, such as bars, clubs, events, cruising areas, and LGBTQ+ organizations.
- Ensure all listed locations are accurate, up-to-date, and verified for inclusivity and safety.
- Collaborate with the team to identify new categories and locations based on community feedback and trends.
- Organize and maintain the map’s structure for easy navigation and accessibility by all members.
- Regularly review and remove outdated or inaccurate listings to maintain the integrity of the map.
- Monitor updates and news in the LGBTQ+ community to include noteworthy new spaces and events.
- Assist in curating special location guides for themed events or regional highlights to enhance user experience.
- Act as a key contributor to fostering a sense of connection and belonging by highlighting safe and welcoming spaces worldwide.
What we expect
- You are 18 years or older and align with the values and mission of Unite Gay Network.
- You have strong written and spoken English skills; additional language skills are a bonus, especially for sourcing international locations.
- You have a reliable laptop and a stable internet connection to effectively manage and update the location map.
- You have an eye for detail and experience with online tools or platforms for managing location-based data (experience with maps or content management systems is a plus).
- You can commit to volunteering a minimum of 4 hours per week to research and update location entries.
- You demonstrate professionalism and can work independently, ensuring information is accurate, inclusive, and culturally sensitive.
- You are comfortable verifying sensitive or niche locations (e.g., LGBTQ+ safe spaces and events) with discretion and care.
- You are proactive in keeping up with new and trending locations that are meaningful to the LGBTQ+ community.
